Upland Hunting - Conservation
There are very few conservation organizations the Club has not helped support over the years including hunter education, natural resources and other youth programs. Most of the Club acreage is currently enrolled in the Conservation Reserve Program and has been for more then 20 years. The use of non-toxic shot is encouraged for all hunting, and most members are very cooperative in picking up empty brass. Considerable effort has been made to control invasive species such as purple loosestrife and buckthorn on the Club grounds.
Warm season grasses such as switch grass, big bluestem, wild rye and acres of food plots including grain sorghum and field corn are a major benefit to all sorts of non-game species. These large tracts of grasslands can significantly reduce soil erosion and result in improved water quality for everyone.
